Too much, too young

People are getting very excited about the stuff that Microsoft showed at their PDC a few weeks ago. I'm always interested in new technology, but I really can't get too hyped up about things that will probably be out in 2006. It will change dramatically by that point and, for me, just understanding the basic direction is enough. I'm amazed at the people that are spending serious time dissecting these things. Keeping ahead of the game is vital, but do you not have enough current work to do?
