Jason at 37signals writes about an interesting motivational tool for software teams: release something today.

Although the overall point about motivated teams producing better product is definitely true, I'm not so sure I agree with the final advice of "find something we can do and release in 4 hours". Doing something quick just to do it can lead to some seriously sub-optimal work breakdowns. However, keeping teams engaged through incrementalism, daily (or more frequent builds) and constant review of the product is right on. If you do that consistently, you never have to resort to the parlor trick of doing something in 4 hours.
