A recent series in CNet about corporate influence in classrooms is interesting. While I certainly understand the concern of some people that the ivory tower is becoming tainted by corporate influence, there might not be much alternative. In today's political environment, "tax" is always a four-letter word and there doesn't seem to be much choice but to seek the resources for education from corporate donors (especially if the local community is stupid enough to gut their own tax base by giving away overly generous corporate tax allowances).
Although I like the tool I've been using to maintain this web log and it is perfectly up to the task, I felt the need to look at some other tools just to see what I'm missing. I've successfully installed MovableType on a Linux web server at my hosting company and it looks pretty decent. It is certainly flexible and has all of the features that I think I would need. The real question is whether or not I really want to invest the time and effort into moving over to it.
